KIERAN SOMMERLAD
PHOTOGRAPHER & FILM DIRECTOR
ABOUT ME
I’m a photographer and filmmaker based in Oslo. Visualisation is the foundation of my work — in film as much as in photography. As a child, I imagined entire worlds; over time, I learned the discipline required to bring those inner visions into form.
I work across Business & Portrait, Beauty & Fashion, Brand, Wedding, and Architecture photography. My approach is calm, minimal, and precise. I learned to trust the moment before the camera clicks — to recognise when something real is about to take shape.
I believe quality begins with care — with truly seeing and taking each story seriously. I work with clients across Norway and internationally, creating honest, enduring images and films.
MY PROCESS
I take time to understand people, atmosphere, and purpose. Every project needs space to breathe — that space is what I create.
I work calmly and with intention, creating trust so natural expression can emerge. A photograph becomes possible not because I take it, but because it is allowed to happen.
In film and photography alike, I follow clarity, rhythm, and light — balancing structure with freedom. My visual language is minimal and precise: considered light, soft tones, clear composition. I create images that stay — quiet, but lasting.
Understatement is not a lack of confidence. It’s the confidence to let the image speak.
MY PHILOSOPHY
Light as paint. The camera as brush. For years, this has shaped how I see. Light does more than illuminate — it defines, reveals, and holds a moment still. In film, sound adds depth and rhythm. Together, they create presence.
I believe quality is a matter of attention — and attention is a form of love. Not romantic, but fundamental: care for the craft, for people, for meaning.
My philosophy is built on clarity and calmness. I don’t chase moments; I create the conditions for them. Mistakes are not threats to competence but part of the process. When met with honesty and composure, they become growth. A strong working atmosphere is not free of errors — it is free of ego. Quality emerges from learning together.
In the end, every image is a collaboration — between light and time, person and space, the visible and the felt.
In the end, every image is a collaboration: between light and time, between the person and the space, between what is visible and what is felt.
